Inside the bay

The Craft

A surfboard is a few pounds of foam and resin that, shaped right, turns into the best part of someone's week. Here is what that looks like up close.

One board at a time

Foam, light, and a planer

Lazy Robot is not a factory. It is a small bay with draped walls, a rack of templates, and a stand under the lights. A blank goes up, the outline gets drawn, and the shape comes out one pass at a time.

Rocker, foil, and rails are checked by eye and by the drag of a hand down the deck. Machines are fast. Hands notice things.

Why it matters

Shaped with intent

Working by hand means every curve is a choice. Rocker, foil, rails, and fin placement all get decided for a reason, and you feel those decisions once you are up and riding.
